2017 INTERNATIONAL OPAL JEWELLERY DESIGN AWARDS COMPETITION
2017 AWARDS COMPETITION PRESENTATION DINNER
2017 IOJDAA OPAL TRADE SHOW

Surpassing the overwhelming success of the 2015 overall IOJDAA event and Gala Awards Dinner is a challenging goal for all associated with its presentation.

It is an extensive team of volunteers with varied and specific skills who create a picture of their overall expectation and through dedication, creativity and a sprinkle of luck present this spectacular event.

Born on the concept of utilising freeform and/or undulating surface opal in the creation of unique jewellery pieces, and as a value adding process for miners, the IOJDAA have followed their charter by extensively promoting this discipline.

It is gratifying that our designer jewellers have progressively warmed to this concept.
It is imperative that our promotional activities do not waiver in any manner and that we continue to proudly host this unique event through good and difficult passages on behalf of the opal and associated industries.

‘Eclipse’ by Sydney designer/jeweller, Merridee Cram, ticked all the boxes in 2015 to be the coveted winner of the Prestige Professional Award sponsored by Vicki Bokros, Down to Earth Opals. Thank you, Vicki, for sponsoring this category since the inaugural event in 2000.

Additional incentives have abounded since 2011, including the Christine Roussel Award, $2000 cash for the best carved opal in any category, sponsored by Michelle and Danny Hatcher, and The Alf White Memorial Incentive Award, opal from Alf’s collection sponsored by the White family.

Daniella L’Abbates, ‘Sergey’s Dream’ was the inaugural winner of the Christine Roussel Award with entries from aspiring local carvers, Cameron Delahunty and Katarina Zimmer both Highly Recommended for their wonderful workmanship.

In 2017 entrants in the Alf White Non-Professional Jeweller Category will be assisted in sourcing suitable material for their pieces.

A register of miners/wholesalers interested in providing the material will be made available to intending entrants on request.

We look forward to capacity attendances at the awards Presentation Dinner and all events hosted by the IOJDAA
