IOJDAA Newsletter Number 3
Without doubt the most anticipated segment at successive International Opal Jewellery Design Awards Presentation Dinners is the announcement of category award winners and the catwalk parade of exquisite opal designer jewellery.
The lead up to this event is an exciting and amazing journey for all involved.
The finished product for entrants is the culmination of months of fastidious preparation commencing with a concept, which may entail multiple refinements to have it emerge picture perfect when it comes before the discerning eyes of the judging panel, who will be the deciders of category award winners.
The unique concept on which the IOJDAA was born, (the use of freeform and/or undulating opal in designer jewellery), also saw the emergence of opal carvers who were prepared to pioneer the concept, and the brilliance of jewellers who adapted to freeform as an alternative to calibrated stones to ensure uniqueness, was the brand created by this concept.
We encourage local carvers of opal and jewellers to participate in the 2017 International Opal Jewellery Design Awards Competition.
Lightning Ridge is a talented community throughout all age groups.
The IOJDAA have always strived to include talented youth in their event.
This will continue in 2017.
The catwalk parade of spectacular jewellery entries is made that much more impressive as it is modelled by beautiful young women who do so with an abundance of pride, grace and confidence.
Every girl who has been part of the IOJDAA modelling troupe should be justifiably proud of the part that they have played at the IOJDA Presentation Dinners as they showcase Australia’s National Gemstone, the opal industry and Lightning Ridge.
The ongoing involvement of Priscilla Martinez and Di Holz, has ensured the success of this segment.
Their enthusiasm, creativity and super exuberance reflects in the transformation that they are able to achieve.
There has been a natural progression of local models involved in the showcasing of opal jewellery entries since the inception of the IOJDA.
The 2015 bevy of local beauties eased graciously into the footsteps of their predecessors modelling award winning entries to receptive guests attending this prestigious and unique evening.
In 2017 they will be parading Catwalk Designs sponsored by BRKSTR, (Brookstar, Brook Holland).
There are many reasons why you should attend this glamorous and exciting evening.
Every effort is being made to surpass the success of the highly successful 2015 International Opal Jewellery Design Awards Competition, Awards Presentation Dinner and Opal Trade Show hosted by the IOJDA Association.
