Excitement Continues to Mount as IOJDAA Gala Awards Dinner draws closer.

The excitement continues to mount as the International Opal Jewellery Design Awards Competition, Opal Trade Show and Awards Presentation Dinner hosted by the IOJDAA draws closer.

We have been advised by the Linda Jackson/”Romance was Born” Collaboration that Destination NSW has come on board to produce a Lightning Ridge travel Story which will appear in the October issue of Harpers’ Bazaar.

Linda Jackson, who has a close affinity with Lightning Ridge and the IOJDAA and who has a deep ongoing passion for opal, (which has reflected in her signature opal inspired couture and jewellery), has been largely instrumental in bringing this amazing publicity opportunity for Lightning Ridge to fruition.

We will be joined at the awards Presentation Dinner by the photographers involved in the overall shoot for destination NSW, Romance was Born, Linda Jackson, and Harper’s Bazaar that will unfold in coming months.

Cooee Couture sees Romance Was Born continue their collaboration with Linda Jackson - artist, maven fashion designer, opal dreamer and fellow free spirit. Cooee Couture is not about couture – rather it is Romance Was Born’s fashion shout-out to Jackson’s flamboyant style and a tribute to her ground breaking fashion label Bush Couture. The collection Cooee Couture celebrates their creative similarities, both are inspired by the raw beauty of the Australian landscape and what Romance Was Born dub as a “fabulousness” in head to toe dressing. Jackson’s work immediately resonated with them, her signature use of colour, print, texture and shape, but above all they experience a pure delight in the handwork of everything she makes. For Cooee Couture Romance Was Born focus on Linda Jackson the artisan. In so doing, they return to their own design roots beginning with the fabric. Every garment in this collection has been either hand printed or painted by Linda, patch worked or embroidered, exploring textile development through the artisans’ hands.

Cooee Couture is Romance Was Born’s creative dreaming. A fantasy of rainbows, magical opals, mystical bird spirits, burnished roguish outlaws, wildflower dames and colonial nymph-like ingénues’ are set against the stunning backdrop of our unique Australian landscape.

The ‘fabulousness’ that Romance was Born speaks of will cover the entire evening!
